Aging Presents New Oral Challenges

As you get older, many age-related oral conditions may develop. These may include;

  • Dry mouth: The Canadian Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties (CPS) lists over 600 commonly used medications that can contribute to dry mouth, increases the risk for oral disease, such as dental cavities and soreness in the oral tissue.
  • Periodontal (gum) disease: Bad breath, receding or bleeding gums may indicate periodontal (gum) disease. This can contribute to heart problems and interfere with diabetes.
  • Root caries (cavities): As recession occurs, the softer part of the tooth, the root, is exposed, and is very susceptible to decay. Avoiding candy and sticky fruit can help avoid this problem, which can lead to breaking teeth and increase the risk of pneumonia.
  • Pathology: This includes oral cancer and less serious illnesses, such as candidiasis, an abnormal growth of fungus in the mouth.
Trey Petty Oral Health provides efficient, compassionate and comprehensive dental and oral health care to Continuing Care residents.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide coordinated, comprehensive, competent, continuous, compassionate oral health care to every patient in our practice, throughout all the stages of their life.
Illness or mobility impairment can make going to your regular dentist or dental hygienist challenging. As a result, your teeth can become compromised, and your gums can become sensitive and swollen. During your first appointment, our mobile dental hygienist will examine your oral condition and recommend a plan that best suits your individual needs.

Mobile Dental Hygiene

Trey Petty Oral Health is pleased to provide Mobile Dental Hygiene services in the comfort of your room.

Our fees follow the Alberta Seniors Benefits Program. We will discuss your dental benefit coverage and in order to obtain a quick, complete reimbursement, we will assist you in completing any forms related to your private or government dental plan.

Mobile Dental Hygiene Services include:

Overall dental assessment, dental cleanings, fluoride application, oral cancer screening, oral hygiene instruction, as well as evaluation, cleaning, and consultation of any partial or complete dentures.

We provide care for residents in their own familiar surroundings, reducing stress associated with mobility and transportation challenges.
